Organizing priorities is no easy task. It helps, however, to separate your needs from your wants. Then we suggest that your priority list include, at a minimum: achieving adequate financial resources to support the post-business life you desire. Additional priorities can include: leaving when you want, choosing your successor, rewarding long-time employees, making sure a successor owner keeps the business in its current location, bringing children into the business, easing out of the business before leaving entirely, giving to charity, maintaining the company’s culture or taking the business to the next level. We have developed several ways for you to both set and meet your priorities.
